Mr. Washington is an industry recognized expert in the implementation of commercial security solutions for monitoring, identifying, and reporting on unauthorized activities in enterprise computing environments. As a seasoned professional, he has been involved in numerous high-level incidents involving Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies, and regularly advises the security community at large on insider threat management, where he is commonly referred to as a subject matter expert. He has served as a contract instructor for the Department of Homeland Security Federal Law Enforcement Training Center for computer forensics and internet investigations and technology programs, and is responsible for chairing information security conferences and symposia, information security curricula development, and conducting security and audit consultations. He has trained agents from police investigative agencies such as the Secret Service and, New York City Police Department.
Mr. Darnell Washington has over 30 years of professional information technology experience and is actively involved in the design of secure network information technology architectures for Federal, Financial Educational, and Commercial clients. He maintains technical certifications in Microsoft, Novell, and Citrix operating systems, and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), with specialization in high assurance secure network architecture design and deployment, and data encryption using advanced Public Key Infrastructure technologies.
He has consulted with many organizations in the redesign of existing enterprise network architectures to implement new and emerging technologies such as secure wireless communications, smart-card, public/private key encryption, virtual private networks, biometrics, and HSPD-12, FIPS 201 integrated solutions and single-sign on user authentication methodologies under the Department of Homeland Security Mentor Protégé program with ADT Federal Systems Division . Mr. Washington develops methodologies, strategies, toolkits, and test plans for network and physical vulnerability assessments penetration testing, independent verification and validation, and formalized information system certification and accreditation for Federal and military networks.
Over the past eleven years, he has designed critical infrastructure protection for the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Transportation, the Federal Reserve Bank, and managed the Computer emergency incident response program for SunTrust Bank. He has received recognition from the Department of Transportation and the Department of Commerce for innovative wireless designs and continuity of operations solutions.
He is the principal developer of a encrypted secure communications video product for use in Law applications and critical infrastructure protection, where he was granted a US Patent in July 2011 for a Secure Device to Device video monitoring (Patent Number 7979692) enabling secure video applications that provide high assurance encryption and data protection technologies for Law Enforcement and public safety organizations. He has developed custom physical security integrations and training programs for the Federal Protective Service, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the City of Baltimore, and the Transportation Security Administration.
He has won numerous awards throughout in Information Security, including the 2011 Technology Innovation Award of the year by Tech America and the Technology Association of GA, as well as the 2011 Information Security Practitioner and the 2012 Sr. Information Security Professional from ISC(2). In 2013, he received an award at the Government Information Security Leadership Awards for Multi-factor authentication in cloud hosted environments with the Federal Protective Service In 2014, SecureXperts, and the Federal Protective Service won the award at Secured Cities for the “most innovate Sector Security project” by Security Technology Executive magazine and Cygnus Communications.
