EXPERIENCE
Mr. Wimmer has been involved in global investigations and security consulting for nearly 50 years. He served for nearly 22 years in the U. S. Air Force, the majority of that time as a Special Agent with the Office of Special Investigations (OSI), where he was responsible for felony-level criminal and fraud/contract kickback investigations and prevention, anti-terrorism and counterespionage operations. Before retiring, he was selected to head a joint Department of Defense (DoD) team that business re-engineered counterintelligence and criminal investigation processes throughout the DoD. He has also spent more than 28 years in corporate security and investigations mostly with various divisions of Pinkerton and now G4S. During his long career, he has conducted and supervised thousands of security consulting projects around the world. This includes risk-based security consulting for the U.S. military and Space Command; for international company office headquarters; manufacturing facilities; research and development facilities; housing complexes and business to include procurement and contracting departments. Mr. Wimmer has worked in all 50 states in the U.S. and more than 75 countries. He has lived (and worked) abroad for 18 years (Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong SAR, People’s Republic of China, the UK and Germany) and has worked in Asia, the Near East, Middle East, Europe, the Caribbean, Latin America and even on the Polar Ice Cap. Mr. Wimmer has helped a variety of entities evaluate their security/safety and make improvements that have helped them manage security and safety risks. He has been a regular speaker at the annual ASIS International GSX/conferences and specialized in evaluating business espionage issues during travel and when working from home. He is the returning chairman of the ASIS international Community on Intellectual Property Protection and the author of a book on countering business espionage. He also heads up the G4S supply chain security team and has special expertise in supply chain security protection. He adds this expert perspective to evaluating guarding services and security equipment and how they work together to provide security. He has evaluated hundreds of security guarding operations to include armed security operations and mobile patrol functions. He helped develop Microsoft’s international security policies/ procedures and counter industrial espionage program and has worked on international security issues with a number of other major corporations. Mr. Wimmer also has extensive experience in dealing with workplace violence – including how to prevent it and how to respond should prevention fail. He also is an expert on international terrorism having worked against terrorists targeting the Crown Prince of Iran, U.S. forces in Berlin during the first Gulf War, against radical Islamic fundamentalists and the New People’s Army in the Philippines after the eruption of the Mount Pinatubo volcano, and, against al-Qaeda affiliates in Pakistan after the assassination of five Union Texas Petroleum employees in Karachi. Mr. Wimmer has special expertise in working with law enforcement and security agencies. He has trained personnel from police departments in the U.S. on risk assessment methodologies and best practices. He has worked with, and has been recognized, by dozens of international law enforcement/security agencies, including the North American Treaty Organization (NATO) for partnering with them to improve their security posture. He always strives to be on the forefront of emerging threats and has led the way in addressing the opportunities but also the threats now posed by unmanned systems and various security related technologies.

Mr. Wimmer was just board re-certified as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) by ASIS International (formerly the American Society of Industrial Security) for 27 years. He was the founding chairman of Taiwan’s ASIS chapter. He is certified in Homeland Security (Level III) with the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute and is certified both as an operative and a trainer in the Sandia Laboratory’s Risk Assessment Methodology for risk assessments and as a lead auditor for ISO 28000. He has helped multiple government agencies, including assisting US Customs and Border Protection in developing their risk assessment methodology for the CTPAT program. He is also a member of the Espionage Research Institute and is an expert on counterespionage going back to his days in the United States Air Force. He has helped global and local companies/businesses build programs to protect their most sensitive intellectual property and trade secrets from compromise. He authored a book on risk-based approaches to countering business espionage which was released by Butterworth-Heinemann publishers. A recognized expert on security and investigative matters, Mr. Wimmer has spoken around the world on supply chain security, international terrorism, business espionage, crisis management/business, security risk assessment methodologies, continuity planning, travel security/hospitality services, active assailants and dealing with business fraud, purchasing fraud and kickbacks. He has appeared on CNN, CNBC, National Public Radio, ABC/Discovery Channel as well as television and radio from Taiwan to Pakistan, Hong Kong to Peru and Colorado to Florida. He has been interviewed by such international publications as Newsweek, Business Week, the International Herald Tribune, the New York Times and USA Today. He is trained in the Chemical Risk Assessment Methodology and CFATS and has served as a Facility Security Officer for a DoD contractor. He also has served as the Section Chief for the chemical infrastructure section and was on the Board of Directors of the FBI-hosted Colorado/Wyoming Infragard Chapter. Mr. Wimmer has worked with a Master Trainer on the ASEAN Common Competency Standards for Hospitality and Management and has served as a lecturer and associate professor for several colleges/universities, is currently on the advisory board for the University of South Florida’s cyber security program and has trained staff around the world on countering business espionage and crisis management/emergency planning.
