David St. Pierre CPE
Mr. St. Pierre is the Director of Public Safety and Security at Manatee County Port Authority In addition to his duties as Facility Security Officer and management of the port’s security department, he is the course developer and lead instructor for the port’s MARAD Certified FSO Course.
Mr. St.Pierre retired from the United States Coast Guard in May of 2002 after 22 years of honorable service. While on active duty he served as deck watch officer aboard the Coast Guard Cutters HAMILTON, POINT JACKSON, SANIBEL and DURABLE. He also served at New York’s Vessel Traffic Service and as a Search and Rescue Coordinator as Coast Guard Group/Air Station Atlantic City New Jersey. In addition Mr. St.Pierre has been designated Marine Safety and Environmental Protection professional for qualifications he received for his service at Coast Guard Marine Safety Offices Baltimore, Savannah and Tampa.
After September 11, 2001 Mr. St.Pierre lead the Coast Guard Captain of the Port of Tampa’s shore side security detail where he was responsible with coordinating Coast Guard Reservists and Florida National Guardsmen which were deployed to enhance port security. Additionally, he worked with state and local law enforcement agencies to develop a screening template to assist in elevating security infrastructure in the port’s many facilities and terminals. After his retirement in 2002 he was hired by the Tampa Port Authority as Security Compliance Manager where he continued his work to improve facility plans and infrastructure.
David is the recipient of 3 Coast Guard Achievement Medals, 5 Commandants Letter of Commendation Ribbons and received a personal letter of Commendation from President Clinton. He is also a MARAD Certified FSO Instructor and a Certified Port Executive.
