Bob is the founder and CEO of Apellix™ which provides software-driven aerial robotics platforms to paint, coat, clean and test, in situations where until now, humans have done the work at physical risk to themselves. A serial entrepreneur, Bob is passionate about designing and creating software-controlled robotic systems that keep people out of harm’s way and save lives.
Bob is a frequent presenter on the use of robotic systems for Nondestructive Testing (NDT), Inspection (NDI) and Evaluation (NDE) and has presented at numerous conferences. He is authoring a chapter on Robotic NDE Inspection in an upcoming book titled Handbook of NDE 4.0 scheduled for publication by Springer in late 2020. Mr. Dahlstrom is also active with various standards bodies for robotic inspections.
Bob is a FAA certified “drone” Pilot, and business mentor for “Startup Quest’, “Startup Weekend by Google for Entrepreneurs”, and volunteer at startup accelerators. He is also a former college professor at Florida State University, and a marathon runner.
Speaker biography: Mr. Dahlstrom holds 4 U.S. Patents, has received numerous engineering, invention and teaching awards, and has published over 50 papers and articles, has spoken at multiple conferences and events, and appeared in multiple podcasts and webinars. Mr. Dahlstrom is the founder and CEO of Apellix™ which provides software-driven aerial robotic platforms to paint, coat, clean and test, in situations where until now, humans have done the work at physical risk to themselves. A marathon runner, Bob knows the value of discipline, training and persistence.
Prior to Apellix he founded a software company 1998, was a full-time faculty member at Florida State University, worked for the Florida Legislature, and worked in a clean room at AT&T Microelectronics where he wrote his first computer program in 1986. Bob has an MBA from Florida State University and a BS from Cal State East Bay.
Bob is unequivocally adamant that software is “eating the world” and is passionate about designing and create software controlled robotic systems that keep people out of harm’s way and save lives.
